Pune Porsche Accident Case: Teen's Father and Grandfather Held in Custody Until May 31

In a significant development in the Pune Porsche accident case, the district court has ordered the continued police detention of the father and grandfather of the teenage suspect until May 31.

Earlier, on Saturday, a Pune court placed the teenager's grandfather under police custody until May 28. Both the grandfather and father, who are now in judicial custody, allegedly bribed and coerced their family driver to take responsibility for the accident, according to Pune Police Commissioner Amitesh Kumar. They also reportedly threatened the driver.

The father, Vishal Agarwal, a real estate developer, and his father have been charged under IPC sections 368 (wrongfully concealing information) and 365 (kidnapping with intent to secretly and wrongfully confine a person).

Additionally, Dr. Ajay Taware, head of Sassoon Hospital's Forensic Medicine department, Dr. Shrihari Halnor, the chief medical officer, and Atul Ghatkamble, a staff member under Dr. Taware, have been arrested. They are accused of discarding the juvenile's blood samples and replacing them with clean samples from another person. This manipulation, allegedly orchestrated by the teen's father who offered bribes to the doctors, was intended to show no traces of alcohol in the reports. However, the deceit was uncovered when another set of the juvenile's blood samples, sent to a different hospital, tested positive for alcohol.

A thorough investigation is now underway to identify whose blood was used to replace the juvenile's samples. The incident occurred early on May 19 in Pune's Kalyani Nagar neighborhood, where two IT professionals were killed after their motorcycle was hit by a speeding Porsche reportedly driven by the intoxicated teenager. Initially, the Juvenile Justice Board granted the minor bail, instructing him to write an essay on car accidents. However, following public outrage and further police investigation, the teenager was placed in an observation home until June 5.
