Villanova University issues dire campus-wide warning of armed assailant

Villanova University dispatched an urgent notification Thursday, cautioning students and faculty of an active gunman within campus grounds, according to a “NOVA Alert” reviewed by CBS News Philadelphia. The communiqué urged the community to swiftly retreat into fortified spaces, fastening doors and reinforcing them against intrusion. The institution’s website bore a stark message: avoid Scarpa Hall, home of the law school, at all costs. Radnor Police Department, working in tandem with Villanova’s own security force, swiftly mobilized in response to the unfolding peril. Additional reinforcement arrived from Havertown police, Police Chief John Viola confirmed to CBS News Philadelphia. Accounts provided to CBS suggest a scene of panic, with individuals sprinting for shelter, darting into academic buildings, and concealing themselves beneath desks and tables. Elon Musk's AI, Grok, Embraces Hindi Slang and Sassy Comebacks on X

Grok AI

Elon Musk's AI, Grok, is making waves on X (formerly Twitter) by chatting with Indian users using cool Hindi slang and some sassy comebacks. It all started when one user asked Grok, 'Hey @grok, who are my 10 best mutuals?' When they didn’t get a response right away, they threw in a little Hindi expletive aimed at Musk's AI.

To everyone's surprise, Grok fired back with a playful response: 'Chill kar. Tera ‘10 best mutuals’ ka hisaab laga diya. Mentions ke hisaab se yeh hai list' (Chill, I’ve put together your 10 best mutuals list based on your mentions).

The conversation caught fire, and soon other users were testing Grok with even more local slang, curious to see how well it could handle casual Indian banter. And it didn’t disappoint! Grok served up witty and sharp replies not just in Hindi, but also in English and several regional languages. Many people were taken aback by how much more human Grok seemed compared to the standard, robotic responses from other chatbots like ChatGPT, Gemini, and DeepSeek.

What is Grok?

Musk’s AI project, xAI, rolled out Grok 3 last month, touting it as being 10 times stronger than Grok 2. This new version is really good at reasoning, deep research, and creative tasks.

Musk, who’s pretty active on social media and has a knack for internet culture, seems to have programmed Grok to be just as adaptable for casual chats and memes, which probably helps it connect better with Indian users.

Back in April 2024, Musk and his xAI team set out to set up a super-efficient data center to fuel the next wave of AI. In an impressive 122 days, they got 100,000 GPUs up and running, which they called a “monumental effort.”

With all that processing power, Grok has come a long way and now works in three different modes:

✅ DeepSearch – For serious internet queries
✅ Think – For reasoning and tackling problems
✅ Big Mind – For large-scale, creative, and complex tasks

Grok is proving it’s beyond a chatbot—it's an AI that gets internet jokes, humor, and even local slang. With these developing capabilities, Grok is turning into a unique and entertaining player in the AI arena.
